How to Close a Form Before Migration
If your Web Express site has an active webform, it important to understand what happens with webform submissions during your migration window.
Once your migration begins, your live site is copied to a new database and any form submissions after that time will not be included in your migrated site.
If you only use the emails from form submissions and have never need to access the submissions via your site, you can keep your form open during this process. However, if your form includes file attachments, or you need to review submissions on the site, we recommend you close the form during the migration process and re-open it after your migration is complete.
How to close a webform
- Navigate to the form you need to close
- Click the "Edit Webform" link in the second blue bar, just above the page title
- Click the "Form Settings" link
- Scroll down and locate the "Status of this form" section and select the "Closed" option
- Scroll to the bottom and click save.
Once a form is closed, visitors will see a message that submissions to the form are closed. If you need additional messaging, you can edit your form and add additional content in the body field. Just remember you should remove any extra content once your site has been migrated and the form is open again.

Leaving a Webform Open During Migration
You can leave a form open during the migration window, but there's a few things you need to know:
- Webforms must not require users to login to access the webform
- Webforms that are configured to send an email when there is a submission will continue to do so
- File uploads from webforms cannot be accessed until after the migration is complete
- Links from submission emails that happen during the migration window will no longer work once the migration is complete. Files and other submission data will need to be accessed via logging into the site and reviewing the submissions.
- Webform submission data that happens during the migration window will not be added or imported to the migrated site. It is the site owner's responsibility to export and download any submissions that happen during the migration window. Once we disable the sandbox sites at the end of the year this data will be unavailable.
- Webform conditionals will continue to work during a site's migration.
