Block Quotes

Meaningful HTML markup helps users of assistive technology better understand the structure of a page. Use semantic designations such as lists, block quotes, and tables to make web pages easier to navigate and understand.

Block Quote Mark-up

The blockquote element is used to indicate that a large section of text is a quotation from another source.  Block quotes are often misused for visual styling but they should only be applied to quotations.

When elements are properly identified, it also provides more context and makes it easier to understand and digest the content.
