Block Layout

Site builders can utilize Block Layout under the Structure tab to place blocks within regions outside of the primary content area and to place a block on multiple pages at a time. The Block Layout will show you which blocks are placed in each region that have been placed by Block Layout (not through the Layout tab on an individual page).

How to Place a Block using Block Layout

1. Navigate to Structure > Block Layout.
2. Determine which region you want to place the block and scroll to that section. Click Place block next to that region.

3. In the next display window, you can either choose from an existing reusable block in the list or create a new reusable block by clicking on Add Content block.

   Note: The block list contains both content blocks and system blocks. Only place Content blocks.

4. If you add a new Content block, add your content to the block and then click Save and configure.

Configure Block

Once the block is selected, (or created) a configuration page will display. 

1. Display title: enabled by default, uncheck the box to hide the block title.

2. Visibility - Pages: Expand the Pages tab.

   The most important aspect is to determine the visibility. If no changes are made to the visibility, by default, your block will be placed on EVERY PAGE of your site. If no pages are listed, there are no restrictions. Most content managers set pages by listing them or using a wildcard. You can also "hide for listed pages" instead.

3. Visibility - Content Type: Expand the Content Type tab. Includes setting visibility for a specific content type (for example, a block specific to the article content type).
4. Visibility - Webform: Expand the Webform tab. Includes setting visibility for a specific form.
5. Region: Select the region where this block should be displayed.
6. Click Save block.
