Newsletter
Create email newsletters from article content on your site. Create responsive HTML code to copy and paste into Salesforce - Marketing cloud. CU Boulder Today and Web Express Updates are two examples of university newsletters that use the newsletter bundle to create their newsletters.
Notes:
You will need the Newsletter role to create and edit newsletters.
- In order to create newsletter content from articles, the articles need to be created first and either be published content or new unpublished content that may be published simultaneously when the newsletter is published.
- You must set the Newsletter Type before you build your first Newsletter.
- The Newsletter content type is designed for integration with the University eComm tools.

Create Newsletter
- Using the admin menu: select Content > Add content.
- Select Newsletter from the list of options.
Configure Newsletter
- Newsletter Title: enter the title of the newsletter.
- Intro tab: The intro content appears at the top of the newsletter above the sections content.
- Newsletter Type/Name: select the newsletter type/name from the drop-down.
- Intro Image: upload an image or select an image in the media library.
- Intro Text: enter any introductory content into the editor.
- Sections tab: the newsletter can be split into multiple sections that can be individually formatted.
- Section Style: choose how articles in this section will display.
- Feature: a 50/50 display with a large thumbnail image aligned left and article summary to the right.
- Teaser: a 1/5 display with an article summary and a small thumbnail image aligned to the right.
- Section Title: (optional) create section headings.
- Section Contents: Choose between making your own content or importing the summary excerpt, thumbnail, categories, and links for an article.
- Add Newsletter Section Articles: Use the search function to search by article title for existing content.
- Add Newsletter Section Content: add custom content including a URL link to any external content.
- Title: will be linked if you have a URL added
- URL: for external content, add full URL. for internal content, type title of site content and select from list.
- Image: upload an image or select an image in the media library.
- Text: use editor to enter content.
- More Link: provide a link to read more articles.
- Add Newsletter Section: (optional) add additional sections.
- Blocks tab: add content in columns at the bottom of the newsletter.
- Newsletter Block Title: enter the title of the block.
- Newsletter Block Text: use editor to enter content.
- Click Add Newsletter Block to add more block content.
- Ads/Promos tab: add up to two images. The images display below the article sections and above the blocks.
- Promo Image: upload an image or select an image in the media library.
- Promo URL: provide a link to promo.
Save /Preview
- Click Save to save your newsletter.
- Click Preview to see the web and HTML views and to copy the email HTML code.
Getting HTML Code for Emailing Newsletter

After you have saved your newsletter:
- Click Preview.
- In the View mode drop down, select Email HTML.
- Scroll to the bottom of the preview. Use the button Click to copy your newsletter HTML.
- Paste the HTML code in the HTML paste field of the email marketing tool or save to a text document to use at a later time.
